Practically Oriented Philosophy of Culture (German-French) M.A.
Since the winter semester 2005/2006 the philosophical institutes of the Université Paris 8 and University of Stuttgart have offered the binational Master's study program ‘Praxisorientierte Kulturphilosophie’ (Philosophy of Cultures) supported by the Deutsch-Französische-Hochschule (DFH). The Master’s study program takes four semesters (two years), which students normally spend in equal shares in Stuttgart and Paris. It involves the historical, systematical and methodical basics of Philosophy of Cultures and its critical analysis, two detailed modules covering the topics ‘technological culture’ and ‘interculturality’, a 3-month practical training period and a Master’s thesis (4 months). Successful participants acquire a binational German–French master’s degree in ‘Praxisbezogene Kulturphilosophie’ (University of Stuttgart) or ‘Philosophie et critiques contemporaines de la culture’ (Université Paris 8), respectively, and a DFH certificate.
