Geomatics Engineering (GEOENGINE) M.Sc. - in English

Geomatics engineering (GEOENGINE) is one of the key disciplines for monitoring the system of the Earth in the complex interplay of the atmosphere, hydrosphere and solid Earth dynamics. It is an indispensable prerequisite for urban planning, traffic management and sustainable economic development. GEOENGINE has been designed as a compact M.Sc. program for international students from academia, government agencies or geomatics engineering companies. It provides advanced education and practical training to those students who wish to widen their perspective and deepen their knowledge of the theoretical background and the numerical techniques for modelling geospatial data. Successful completion of the curriculum enables them to define requirements for the establishment of a geoinformatics infrastructure and to adapt technology to the necessities of local economic conditions. Based on solid foundations in mathematics, theoretical geodesy and geomethodologies, this international program covers applied subjects such as the representation of geodata, positioning, navigation and geo-telematics. Students require one and a half years to complete the GEOENGINE program: two course-based semesters plus one semester for thesis research. The courses are organised in modules. Most of them are mandatory, while two modules are elective. All of themare credited in compliance with the European Credit Point System (ECTS). The language of instruction is English.
