French State Examination for teachers (starting WS 2010/11 and later (GymPO I))
The study of French deals with the French language and the literature of French-speaking countries. The course comprises the fields of linguistics (composition and function of today's language), literature (medieval till contemporary), language didactics (oral and written use of the language) and cultural studies (present day cultural, political and social issues). The language of study is mostly German. Students must have a fair knowledge of the French language before the beginning of their studies.
