Due to the "Novellierung des Universitätsgesetzes" the former faculties mathematics and physics have been merged in the "Faculty 8: Mathematics and Physics" since October 1, 2002.

For better orientation there are still two branches for the formerly separated faculties:
-Department of mathematics
-Department of physics
