Goals of this Project: |

|
The Central Facility for Advanced Microscopy (CFAM) of the Center Systems Biology (CSB) at the University Stuttgart is operated by the Institute of Cell Biology and Immunology (Dir. Prof. Dr. Klaus Pfizenmaier). The laboratory offers a wide range of modern light microscopy and imaging technologies, which focus mainly on the analysis of signal transduction pathways in living cells and organisms.
The facility is set up as a multi-user laboratory open for all collaborators of the CSB. The spectrum of activities ranges from service work in routine microscopy applications, training and support to development of new methods and independent research projects.
The core equipment of the CFAM are two Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopes. We also have a conventional widefield fluorescence microscopy workstation equipped with CCD camera and monochromator illumination and several computer workstations for live imaging of cells and organisms. Our equipment enables users to perform, for example, two-photon microscopy, time-lapse and video microscopy and various other methods to identify molecular interactions and dynamics of signal protein distribution in cells (e.g., FRET, FRAP, FLIP). A microinjection workstation is also available. A further focus of the facility is on advanced quantitative and multidimensional image analysis performed on 4 additional workstations.
The facility is located in the "Verfügungsgebäude" at the University Stuttgart, Allmandring 5b, 2nd floor, 70569 Stuttgart, Contact: Margarete Witkowski, phone +49 711 685 68222.
