Travel information

  • As a state capital, Stuttgart is well connected to international travelling. The international airport of Stuttgart (STR) is serviced by major airlines offering daily trips to all major European cities. A smaller number of links to overseas is also available. Since railway between the airport of Frankfurt (FRA), the largest airport in Germany, and the main station of Stuttgart is well established (about 1:15 h), choosing the airport of Frankfurt can offer even more possiblities of overseas connections.

  • Within Europe also travelling by train might be a suggested possibility. There is e.g. a direct connection via TGV from Paris to Stuttgart. Whether you arrive at the airport or at the main railway station of Stuttgart, from both it is only about 15 min metro trip to directly reach the Science Campus and the commundo hotel (get off station 'Universität'). Be careful, there are two independent systems of local trains: The subway lines designated by "U" and the fast regional lines designated by "S". To reach the University campus from the main station please use the lines S1 (direction Herrenberg), S2 (direction Filderstadt), or S3 (direction Flughafen). From the airport use S2 (direction Schorndorf), and S3 (direction Backnang) (see map).
