   veteran Royal Army engineer, who notably participated in William Roy’s Military Mapping of Scotland, conducted from 1747 to 1755. Beginning in the mid-1760s, Andrew teamed up with his son, Mostyn John Armstrong (1765 fl. -1791), also a skilled surveyor, to produce civilian county and road maps, done to advanced scientific standards, in pursuit of financial profit.
